Description

Great Bay University (GBU) is a newly established public university situated at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), China. Along with the vivid development of the area, GBU strives to be a world-class research university staying at the forefront of knowledge and innovation.

We are now seeking outstanding candidates in Computing and Information Technology:

Main areas of computing and information technology, including computer science, information and communication engineering, and electronic engineering. 

Computer Science: With a focus on pioneering advancements in computing theory, algorithms, systems (encompassing hardware, software, and networks), data science, human-computer interaction, and machine learning, we seek applicants poised to push the boundaries of knowledge. Individuals committed to conducting groundbreaking research in emerging fields with substantial potential or addressing fundamental challenges are strongly encouraged to apply.

Information and Communication Engineering: This encompasses a broad range of topics, including but not limited to the fundamental theory of information and communications (including coding theory), ultrahigh-capacity transmission and switching, indoor communications and innovative terminal designs, as well as network architecture and advanced networking technologies tailored for cloud computing, communication, and sensing applications. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in emerging areas such as 6G wireless and beyond, optical communication, and quantum communication.

Electronic Engineering: This encompasses a wide array of domains, including but not limited to microelectronics, opto-electronics, electromagnetic fields and microwaves, high-frequency or radio-frequency electronics, embedded systems, FPGA, and VLSI. We extend a special invitation to applicants with expertise in plasma science and technology, quantum photonics or electronics, and fourth-generation semiconductor technologies.

Candidates of all ranks are invited to apply:

  • Chair Professor: You are a distinguished scholar with a global reputation in your field. To qualify, you must demonstrate a proven record of excellence in research and possess an extensive teaching portfolio. You are a leader at the forefront of your research area, with rich experience in setting strategic goals and leading large teams to execute research programs.
  • Professor and Associate Professor: You are an accomplished researcher with a stellar track record of publications and remarkable achievements. With at least five years, ideally ten years, of independent academic research or industrial research experience, you bring a wealth of expertise to your field. Your passion for teaching and working with students is evident, and you excel in setting long-term research goals. Furthermore, you possess the ability to lead a team effectively to execute research programs, ensuring impactful outcomes.
  • Assistant Professor: You have completed your Ph.D. and ideally have postdoctoral experience, establishing yourself as a rising star in your field. With a solid grasp of your research area, you have demonstrated the potential to become a leading researcher in multiple subjects. You excel at teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, demonstrating exceptional communication skills and a collaborative spirit, making you an excellent candidate for our faculty.

Compensations and benefits. GBU offers internationally competitive salaries and sufficient start-up funds, which are commensurate with qualifications. Benefit packages include annual leaves, housing funds, as well as social, medical, and retirement insurance mandated under the laws and regulations. Successful candidates are encouraged to apply for national, provincial, and municipal talent funds, most of which carry additional research grants. Those who qualify for Dongguan's special talent program are eligible for additional housing subsidies. Negotiations are possible for truly outstanding candidates on a case-by-case basis.

Minimum Requirements and Responsibilities. You must demonstrate, via high-quality publications in top conferences or journals, solid research training in relevant areas. You should have an independent forefront researcher agenda, and meet the university's educational needs. Strong work ethics, ability to innovate, and team spirit are required.

Successful candidates are expected to carry out independent research and teaching activities, as well as contribute to the university's academic and educational development.
