Description

This position is a key role within the Global Homologation and Safety Engineering team at tesla. The primary responsibilities include executing and analyzing vehicle-level homologation and development tests for both domestic and other APAC markets, as well as coordinating activities with overseas teams. The role requires ensuring safe and reliable performance while conducting tests in accordance with Tesla's test procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize and manage test resources to meet tight and evolving program deadlines.
- Conduct hands-on energy consumption and range tests, working closely with Global engineering staff.
- Independently execute and coordinate homologation tests at Tesla's or external test labs.
- Follow Tesla test plans and procedures to accurately record, analyze, document, and report results professionally.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate data analysis and results submission.
- Interpret, implement, and continuously improve test procedures.
- Configure, maintain, and approve test vehicles to ensure safe and representative testing.
- Lead the instrumentation of vehicles with data acquisition and driving robot systems.
- Coordinate the calibration of test devices and facilities, maintaining accurate records and certificates.
- Support development and validation tests across various engineering fields as needed.
Job Requirements
- Exceptional ability to multitask and manage multiple parallel programs and executive priorities.
- Strong data analysis skills, with experience using simulation/modeling tools to communicate status and results.
- Preferably, direct experience with homologation and type approval tests involving authorities.
- Experience working with or collaborating with technical service companies is a plus.
- Direct experience with EPA, WLTP, NEDC, CLTC dyno test procedures is preferred.
- Experience in powertrain modeling and energy flow analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulations and test procedures related to vehicle range in various markets is an advantage.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as Matlab, Vectors, and LabVIEW is a plus.
- Experience with dynamometer-related hardware and software from companies like AIP, AVL, Horiba, Stähle, LTG, and Hioki is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and third parties.
- Ability to prepare and operate test vehicles for homologation tests.
- Understanding of measurement equipment maintenance, calibration, upgrades, and improvements (mechanical, electrical, or software-based).
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to use English as a working language.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and work in a team environment to achieve common goals.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited institution in China or abroad.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time is required.
