Description

Lead the series development of Gen6 battery and cell projects toward the start of production (SOP) launch. Serve as the network and project liaison with Munich.

Major Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Oversee Gen6 battery cell projects in China, collaborating with the BE-Team and Module-Lead in both Munich and China.
  • Milestone Monitoring: Track and assess project timelines, including critical development and industrialization milestones.
  • Product Evaluation: Evaluate product maturity and development progress based on supplier validation results, making corrections and reporting as needed.
  • Failure Analysis: Conduct failure analysis, identify root causes, and define countermeasures, supported by regular on-site visits.
  • Supplier Support: Assist the BE-Team-Lead and Module-Lead with supplier chain management, engineering evaluations, and industrialization for future BMW projects in China.
  • Technical Evaluation: Plan and execute technical evaluations of suppliers and sub-suppliers, focusing on R&D capabilities and current technology expertise.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
    • Intercultural experience and competence.
    • Advanced knowledge of Li-ion batteries and electrochemistry.
    • Strong project management skills, with experience in hybrid/electrification environments (ideally with electric HV batteries, modules, cells, and E/E components such as BMS).
    • Expertise in battery validation, performance testing, system reliability, durability testing, and subcomponent analysis.
    • Basic workshop skills and hands-on experience.
    • Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to act swiftly in changing situations.
    • Capable of working under stress and traveling for extended periods.

Experience

  • Over 3 years of project experience in product or process development.
  • International experience, preferably with project management experience in an overseas country.
  • More than 3 years of experience in the Li-ion cell domain, ideally with a focus on automotive applications.
