Description

The G.O. Discovery Laboratory within the UCLA Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research, which is closely affiliated with the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Molecular Biology Institute, is seeking applications for a Project Scientist position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist level. The position is under the supervision of Professor Sanaz Memarzadeh, M.D., Ph.D., at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Position Overview: The G.O. Discovery Lab is engaged in cutting-edge translational research focused on improving therapies for women with gynecologic cancers. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic research team and contribute to federally funded research projects with a potential direct impact on patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on epithelial ovarian cancers, particularly focusing on platinum-resistant disease.
  • Investigate mechanisms of resistance to chemo- and immune therapies.
  • Study tumor cell populations with cancer stem cell properties.
  • Contribute to immuno-oncology projects evaluating innovative cell-based immune therapies targeting ovarian cancers.
  • Utilize expertise in pharmacologic assays, drug testing, organoids, in vivo models, and immunology.
  • Collaborate closely with the PI and team, mentor trainees, analyze data, prepare presentations, write manuscripts, and assist in grant writing.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a basic science field.
  • Expertise in molecular biology, cell-based studies, in vitro and in vivo assays, microscopy, immunohistochemistry, FACS analysis, pharmacology, virology, and immunology.
  • Experience with small animal surgical procedures is required.

Salary and Appointment: The level of appointment will correspond with the candidate's qualifications, with a salary range estimated between $71,500 and $188,400, as per Table 37B.
