Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IELTS Teacher to support our students in their English language learning journey, focusing on preparing them for IELTS and TOEFL exams. You will help students achieve the scores required for their visa and university applications, while encouraging their growth in alignment with our core values. This role requires a passion for teaching, a commitment to high standards, and an understanding of broader school curriculum and administration needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach the IELTS course, addressing the specific needs of ESL learners in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent delivery and student progress.
- Student Support: Foster a positive learning environment where each student can thrive and achieve their goals. Provide personalized attention to help students meet their language proficiency targets.
- Collaboration: Work closely with international and Chinese colleagues to co-plan lessons, share ideas, and support continuous improvement in teaching methods.
- Assessment & Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments. Provide constructive feedback and communicate any concerns about student progress or behavior.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training, staff appraisals, and be open to classroom observations. Share best practices and support fellow teachers by offering training and guidance.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate (CELTA/DELTA/TESOL, 120 hrs).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language.
- Native English speaker or equivalent high-level English proficiency.
- Expertise in IELTS preparation across all four components: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Preferred:
- MA TESOL or equivalent with a practical element.
- Familiarity with TOEFL exam preparation and CEFR scales.
- Experience working with Chinese students.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptable with lower proficiency learners.
Desired Attributes:
- Patient, proactive, and open to new ideas.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and adapt teaching materials to align with Second Language Acquisition (SLA) principles.
- Enthusiastic about contributing to the broader school community through extracurricular activities, assemblies, and events.
Additional Duties:
- Supervise students during playtime, lunchtime, and after-school activities.
- Maintain high standards of conduct and promote the ethos of equality and safeguarding within the College.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing regular updates on student progress.
