Developer Relations Engineer, Android and Play, Games (Chinese, English)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., Software Engineering, Solutions Consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience developing games and optimizing performance for Android/iOS platforms, especially on game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal).
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both Chinese and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in game development with two or more shipped titles.
  • Experience in technical leadership, technical consulting, or working with partners/customers/developers community.
  • Familiarity with low-level rendering pipelines (e.g., OpenGL/Metal/Vulkan/DirectX/WebGL and GLSL, or SwiftShader).
  • Excellent public speaking skills, with experience presenting to large technical audiences.

Job Description:

In this role, you will manage technical relationships with developers and provide engineering support and guidance to them, accelerating the adoption of Android or Google Play features. You will drive developer strategy with Engineering teams, acting as an advocate for developers to bring mutually beneficial features to market.

You will work with developers on complex product integrations on Android apps and provide solutions that create a cohesive experience for end users on the platform. You will also collaborate with Product teams to help build Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to drive the success of Android platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with game developers, Android OEMs, and game engines in China and Asia Pacific (APAC) to support exciting new product integrations on flagship Android devices.
  • Optimize AA/AAA game titles, resolve engineering problems with Google technologies, and scale the knowledge to improve the overall gaming ecosystem.
  • Advocate for game developers internally and influence Google developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Drive regular, engineering-focused workshops and meetings with developers to optimize the gaming experience and resolve complex technical problems. Communicate in Chinese to provide the best possible experience for partners in the region.
