Description
Great Bay University (GBU) is a newly established public university situated at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), China. Along with the vivid development of the area, GBU strives to be a world-class research university staying at the forefront of knowledge and innovation.
We are now seeking outstanding candidates in Advanced Engineering:
Including the following core areas: industrial engineering and data science, intelligent manufacturing management, robotics and autonomous systems, intelligent manufacturing and design, electronics for intelligent systems, sustainable development, sustainable energy and power systems, network communications and sensing, microelectronics and integrated circuts. Applicants with backgrounds in the interdisciplinary areas across smart systems, digital technologies, and applications of artificial intelligence are especially encouraged.

- Chair Professor: You are a distinguished scholar with a global reputation in your field. To qualify, you must demonstrate a proven record of excellence in research and possess an extensive teaching portfolio. You are a leader at the forefront of your research area, with rich experience in setting strategic goals and leading large teams to execute research programs.
- Professor and Associate Professor: You are an accomplished researcher with a stellar track record of publications and remarkable achievements. With at least five years, ideally ten years, of independent academic research or industrial research experience, you bring a wealth of expertise to your field. Your passion for teaching and working with students is evident, and you excel in setting long-term research goals. Furthermore, you possess the ability to lead a team effectively to execute research programs, ensuring impactful outcomes.
- Assistant Professor: You have completed your Ph.D. and ideally have postdoctoral experience, establishing yourself as a rising star in your field. With a solid grasp of your research area, you have demonstrated the potential to become a leading researcher in multiple subjects. You excel at teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, demonstrating exceptional communication skills and a collaborative spirit, making you an excellent candidate for our faculty.
Compensations and benefits. GBU offers internationally competitive salaries and sufficient start-up funds, which are commensurate with qualifications. Benefit packages include annual leaves, housing funds, as well as social, medical, and retirement insurance mandated under the laws and regulations. Successful candidates are encouraged to apply for national, provincial, and municipal talent funds, most of which carry additional research grants. Those who qualify for Dongguan's special talent program are eligible for additional housing subsidies. Negotiations are possible for truly outstanding candidates on a case-by-case basis.
Minimum Requirements and Responsibilities. You must demonstrate, via high-quality publications in top conferences or journals, solid research training in relevant areas. You should have an independent forefront researcher agenda, and meet the university's educational needs. Strong work ethics, ability to innovate, and team spirit are required.
Successful candidates are expected to carry out independent research and teaching activities, as well as contribute to the university's academic and educational development.

Overview
The establishment of the Great Bay University (GBU) is a major strategic initiative under the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. GBU is a public institution of higher learning sponsored by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, with substantial support from the Dongguan Municipal People’s Government.
Positioning
Rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), GBU aims to serve the whole of China and extend its influence globally. We focus primarily on science and engineering subjects, striving to become a new type of research university that meets international standards, embraces openness and inclusiveness, and features distinctive regional characteristics. GBU is dedicated to leading future developments in science and technology, industrial upgrades, and social progress.
Training Objectives
Robust academic foundation, broad horizon, unity of knowing and doing, and integration of disciplines are the goals that GBU pursues. With a focus on six directions, i.e. physical sciences, advanced engineering, life sciences, information science technology, sciences, and finance management, GBU is committed to nurturing high-level innovative talents with creative thinking, a global view, patriotism, and the abilities to learn for life, tackle complex problems and innovate in practice.
University Scale
GBU provides full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs with a through training system covering bachelors, masters and doctors. By 2030, it is expected to accommodate about 10,000 students, with an anticipated ratio of undergraduates to graduate students of approximately 1:1.
Student Cultivation
For our inaugural batch of undergraduate programs, we have introduced majors in mathematics & applied mathematics, physics, computer science & technology, materials science & engineering, and industrial engineering. GBU employs a broad-based admission strategy, followed by specialized training, and has developed differentiated talent development plans for disciplines such as physical and engineering sciences.
For postgraduate students, GBU has initiated a pilot training program in selected disciplines. We have collaborated with prestigious institutions such as Sun Yat-sen University, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, and Guangzhou University to jointly train over 100 masters and doctoral students. Meanwhile, we are advancing collaborative doctoral training efforts with the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the University of Macau.
Campus Construction
As planned, GBU has two campuses covering a total land area of approximately 2,356 mu and a built area of about 1 million square meters, including the 256-mu Songshan Lake Campus and the 2,100-mu Binhaiwan Bay Campus. Both campuses collectively support three major functions: education & teaching, research-education-industry integration, and international cooperation.
Songshan Lake Campus mainly focuses on constructing disciplines that take full advantage of the large-scale scientific facilities and new R&D institutions related to the GBA Comprehensive National Science Center, sets up relevant field-specific research institutes and scientific platforms, and serves to meet GBU’s early-stage demands.
Binhaiwan Bay Campus, developed concurrently, primarily caters to undergraduate and graduate education, facilitates industry-university-research collaboration and international cooperation, supports innovation and entrepreneurship incubation, and provides administrative offices.
